Ever since he announced his candidacy for President of the United States, Donald Trump has been the subject of ridicule and derisive mockery. He's been seen as a joke, a bigot, a narcissist unfit for the Oval Office. But the time has come to stop with the naysaying and just give him your support. After all, he clearly represents the values America embraces most.
Trump represents the best of us. He is respectful of women, only referring to them in the most honest of terms. His history of being accused of rape is consistent with our nation's values in our acceptance of rape, given that we don't seem to mind these accusations. He is the true feminist figure of respect to all women, and understands that women just don't need to worry about finances beyond knowing what their husbands earn. What a Godsend.
The United States has never been free from racism and systems that perpetuate racist ideals and problems. His knack for "calling it like it is" certainly embodies the reality that as a nation we are racist, and are just fine with it thank-you-very-much. America has always derided newcomers and those who don't fit in with the majority, so why should we try to hide behind the liberal agenda of equality and compassion? It's not how we feel, so let's just get with the program already.
And when it comes to finances, Trump exhibits excellent craftsmanship and skill. We are a nation of instant gratification and quick-fixes. Trump's history of multiple bankruptcies certainly indicates our nation's values of taking the easy way out and learning nothing from the experience. What's more important is flash, celebrity, and the appearance of success.
And let's not forget about (dis)honesty. In the past, America has prided itself on being honest and true--just look at Honest Abe! But we all know that's a sham. As long as we like what we hear or read or see, it doesn't matter if the truth wins out. Once again, it's about appearances. If Trump sounds like he knows what he's talking about, or even if he's merely consistent with our present biases and fears, what does it matter if it's true? Trump's track record for being honest might mean all his pants are burned to ashes, but at least he's saying what we want to hear, which means we don't have to change our minds about anything!
And finally, while we love waving our flags on Independence Day crying out our devotion to freedom, what we really desire is an authoritarian figure to pick us up from our pity parties and dictate what we should do--robbing us and undesirables of freedom in the process. It's clear from our history and present: while freedom and choice and hope sound nice, we relinquish all that to someone with authoritarian skill who will solve our problems for us. He alone can solve our problems--he said so himself.
So let's get real, America. When it comes down to the values we truly feel, deep within our heart of hearts, Trump is the only choice for the leader of this country.
